    The museum in town Semily shows the region of the upstream of the river Jizera basin with a view to ethnography and arts, humanities and social spheres.

    Decorated furniture, objects from households under the Giant Mountains such as folk costumes, townspeople and rural clothes from the turn of 19th and 20th centuries, folk christmas cribs, Maizner´s and Dolenský´s marionettes and other craftmen and additional atractions campile an unusually arranged erhnographic exhibition. It is situatedin the attic.

    The exposition is continuously supplied with newly gained exhibits.

    A part of the museum is the memorial of „Personages of the region Semily“. It represents 45 personages connected with this town and its neighbourhood. We can find there politicians Dr. F. L. Rieger and Dr. Karel Kramář, writers Antal Stašek and Ivan Olbracht, a publicist Pavel Tigrid, scientists and inventors František A. Petřina and Bohumil Kučera, a composer Jindřich Hybler, artists František Janoušek, František Jiroudek, Miloslav Janků, Vladimír Komárek, Jaroslav Klápště, Miloslav Jágr and Jiří Salaba, glass-makers Adolf Matura and Pavel Hlava, a producer Věra Plívová and others.

    The organization of Christmas and Easter fairs is also an inseparable part of nowadays museum activities. There is a large offer of folklorist´s social anthropology objects and small presents inspired with traditional folk pieces of craftsmanship.

    An extensive gallery activity presents the unique mission for this locality. Historical and art exhibitions are held on the groundfloor of the historical building all the year round. The museum also organizes lectures and concerts.
